How to Start a Top Listing Service with No Contact List:

Topsite webmarketing is an easy way to generate direct traffic, create se history, user interest and build a natural linking pattern to your website while allowing user activity to build your websites content. But launching a successful niche specific topsite means getting active members fast, so that surfers browsing your topsite have something to engage them (the listings) and you have members competing for top position in your list. If you have no contact list this can be very hard even if you wait for the search engines, rank well and made announcements in all the right forums, it would still be hard to get more than a few sign-ups in a month for a receptive niche, and in a slow market it is even worse. How can you get 10-20 or even more members joining topsite the month you launch without waiting for the search engines or posting in forums?

There is a way that is both direct and easy. It will also help you get an initial boost in members even if you do not yet have a contact list. What you do is research the topsites already established in your new prospective niche.

You can use google, bing or yahoo to start gathering your info, you do not need any fancy software. Type in some relevant search queries, i.e. top 100 nicheutarget, etc... and make a list of all the sites you find, including any links from websites (don't be google "blind"), and manually rank the sites by your own criteria. I recommend looking at the topsites own stats, if provided, and targeting sites with lots of in clicks and even more out clicks, as well as page rank and sites ranking high in the serps for your search phrases. 

Once you have created your list it is time to go to all the sites and submit your websites details to theirs. After joining, add their link to a prominent place on your own website. It is important for your next step, so make certain to place the link in a desirable location.

I did this for the casherson top listing service and got 23 members in one week. In the online business, webmaster niche there where only 33 active topsites. I joined the top 11 and emailed my proposal to 7 of them. Only 2 websites agreed to send an email, but both websites agreed to do it for free :). The total members emailed was less than 1000, but I got a better than 1% response rate, closer to 3%... and it cost me nothing but a little time. The top list script was also free, and now I have another steady stream of daily free traffic that takes less effort than a costly ppc campaign. 

Of course any successful marketing campaign needs to be focused and open. Use as many good ideas as you can to get traffic and generate cash from your online activities and you will naturally become more successful as you learn to run an online business.
