Twitter is a very popular social marketing site and most people that sign up want more followers fast. Getting more Twitter followers takes time and doesn't happen overnight, but these top five tips will help:  

1). Fill Out the Profile

A big mistake people make is failing to fill out their Twitter profile. This includes uploading a picture. People are more likely to follow others that have a picture.

2). Find the Hash Tags

Hash tags are used to group together tweets about popular topics. You can get more followers by searching the hash tags for your interests and reaching out to the people tweeting about that subject.

3). Engage

Don't just broadcast affiliate links, engage your followers and try to answer their questions. It is also good to retweet other people and get their attention as you share what they say.

4). Follow Back

People will and do follow people back just for following in the first place. Start following people that look interesting and introduce yourself occasionally as a new follower.

5). Find Twitter FollowBack Lists

Follow users from follow back lists. Many users have created lists consisting of people that returned the follow so there is a good chance those users will follow you as well if you start to follow them. Just Google with: “follow back list twitter”.

Manageflitter - Similar but more advanced then FriendorFollow ManageFlitter can filter your account for a variety of stats like users with no profile image, never tweets or tweets a lot. There is a pro upgrade available but the basic mode has all the features an average user will need.

TweetAttacks - Drive real human traffic even without followers and build your followers with TweetAttacks.

Socialoomph - Want to set up an automated welcome message for your new followers? With Socialoomph you can set up an auto DM and welcome new followers and you can also auto tweet status updates.

Twitterfeed - Twitterfeed is a great service to automate posting your rss feeds to your twitter account. I use it to update my twitter account with the newest additions to the casherson directory feed.

Twiends - Grow your stats on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube... you earn credits for connecting with other Twiends users and use those credits to let others connect with you. Twellow - Twellow is the yellow pages for twitter, so if you want to find followers in a specific geographic location or category, this is the resource to use. Search for users by city or from a directory of categories. You can also follow your finds within the Twellow website itself.
