Basic Copy Writing:

While thinking of ways to increase the profit pulling power and traffic grabbing punch of casherson.com I realized that my visitors would probably appreciate some good, simple, and easy to implement marketing advice... and to be honest, tweeking your ad copy is always a good idea, so...  

I suppose most folks who have to write "copy that sells" create their own cheat sheets to work from. Here are some portions from my own. Pretty basic, but good to keep on hand. Copy and paste what you need, if you need. 

13 most persuasive words:

- Free
- Discovery - Adventure, excitement
- Easy - Quick, simple
- Guarantee - No risk, sure-thing
- Health
- Caring - Interest in others
- Money - Profit, freedom
- New
- Proven - Expert
- Results
- Safety - Comfort, piece of mind
- Save - Time, money
- You

Making Better Headlines:

- You only have 5 seconds to capture your prospect's attention.
- ALWAYS focus on a benefit.
- Include your guarantee!
- Use Power Words such as, Discover, Free, Easy, How To, Results, New, Proven, Quick, Why, Now, Announcing, Introducing, and New.
- Include 'Why', 'How', and 'What If'.
- Include a number: 7 Ways To..., or How To X In 5 Easy Steps...
- Add a time element: 10 minutes a day, 7 days, etc.
- Create an image of the end-result/greatest benefit.
- Make it red.
- Put it in quotes!
- Center it!
- Use upper AND lowercase letters - Avoid all CAPS.
- Begin each word with a Cap.
- Never end your headline with a period.
- Your headline represents 80% of your copy's success. Make sure you have the right one.
- Spend a considerable amount of time developing your headline.
- Spend a session doing nothing but writing down headline ideas. Write, write, write!
- Write dozens or even hundreds of headlines before selecting one.

Making Better Banner Headlines:

- Where possible, use shorter headlines. They tend to have a greater impact!
- When using multi-line headlines, make sure to group the words on each line so they make sense on their own:
"Dance The Salsa
Like A Professional
In Less Than 7 Days...
Guaranteed!"
- Instead of a single, long headline, create an animated headline that splits it up into parts. Use half-finished ideas and sentences in your animated headline in order to force your reader to continue reading - Use an ellipsis ...
